Attitude of Gratitude

For several years now, every November, I have been posting "Attitude of Gratitude" posts every day on Facebook.  Basically I just post something I am thankful for each day.  There are lots of people playing along.  If you haven't started, it's not too late!  ;)

Well for the past three years I have also used my Attitude of Gratitude posts and made a layout with them.  It's fun, and I love looking back at them.  You can see my past Attitude of Gratitude layouts here.  This time I decided to make a 2 page layout to fit it all in better.  The Facebook posts are from last year.

I used the wonderful Hopscotch collection from Fancy Pants.  It is hands down one of my favorites.

Here's my layout:

I really love how it turned out.

Here's how I made it:

1.  I printed off my Facebook posts.  I actually did a screen print and essentially saved a photo of my computer screen for each of my posts and then opened them in Photoshop.  But you could just copy and paste your posts into a document.  Or you could even just print your full Facebook screen and cut the parts out you want.

2.  I created a base for my layout.

I didn't have enough full sheets, so as you can see from one the picture, I had one sheet that already had a leaf cut out of it and also had to piece together one side of the blue polka dot papers.  No big deal.  :)

3.  I took a craft knife and cut out each of my posts, leaving a tail to make it look like a word bubble.  You can always use scissors or a trimmer and just cut it out normally.  I've said this before, but don'w worry about being perfect!  You can see that mine are not cut out perfectly at all.

4.  I already had an idea in my head oh how I wanted my layout to turn out, so I arranged my Facebook posts and adhered them down.

5.  I cut strips of patterned paper and laid adhered them to my layout.  I made sure to extend them across each page of my layout because I love the way that looks.

6.  Then I added my photo, my title, some leaves and some buttons.  For my title I cut down slightly the negative parts of the numbers and adhered them first.  Then I took the numbers and put them on top, but popped them up.  I really like the cool look it gives the title.

And here are some close up's of my layout:

Well there you have it.  :)

Thanks so much for stopping in today!!!

Have a fantastic day!

Thinkin' Summer.

Since we have already established that I am dreaming of Summer...how about we make it worse by posting pics of summer?  :)  A while back I was asked my Creating Keepsakes to do a special assignment for them, which of course, I jumped at the chance.  Not long ago, they released a special issue called Scrapbooking Ideas For Every Season.  In it you can find this layout:

Yep, it screams summer!  Which was actually the assignment.  All the papers, chipboard and rub-on's are from Fancy Pants Designs.

Design Notes:
*  Use your scraps and create two strips of 2 x 2 squares, add 2 x 2 photos in as well.
*  I created a red scallop border to go under my strips of paper and photos, but to break up the straight linear feeling, I tilted them!
*  When I hand cut the scalloped border out of the red paper, I used both sides (top one looks more like waves and bottom like scallops)
*  Try making a large sun and building your page around it!
*  Add your journaling in the form of a wave, then add stitching in between for a fun look.
*  Try adding rub-on's directly to your photos, like my "Hello Sunshine" on the pool pic.

Here are some close up's:

I really had a lot of fun with this 2 page layout.  :)

But it does make me long for summer even more.
Oh well.

:)

Thanks for stopping in today!!!  Have a wonderful day!

Beautiful Spring

All this heat is making me wish it was still Spring. Seriously...how hot is it where you are at?

Like I promised you yesterday, here's another 2 page layout (oh and remember you can always click on the image to view it bigger!):

It uses the gorgeous Butterfly Garden collection from Pink Paislee and some kraft cardstock and those awesome chipboard pieces from Magistical Memories (Yep, still a fan!). The pieces used are called Out On A Limb and Antique Sign.

Design Notes:
* When picking a floral paper to go with your floral pictures make sure you pick one that will not overwhelm or distract from the pictures.
* If using two sheets of the same patterned paper for your background on a two page layout, rotate the second sheet 90 degrees to give it a different look.
* Use bare chipboard on top of kraft paper for a unique more subtle look.
* When making a grid with your photos, just for fun take a few of them and tilt them!
* Try writing part of your title and then stitch (or write) around it with the rest of the title.

Here are some close up's of the layout:

Hope you are able to escape (or enjoy?) the heat.

Have a wonderful day!

Shocker

So I know it may come as a shocker...but I've done a couple 2 page layouts lately. I do them every now and then. Though I must admit, usually it's for a call or a challenge when I do. :)

Here's one I made using Fancy Pants:

It mostly uses the Baby Mine collection, but those birds are from the It's The Little Things collection.

Design Notes:
* It's always a good time to plan or have an impromptu photo shoot with your family.
* Try using multiple colors for your journaling. :)
* Letters not big enough for you? Try backing them with paper and then curling the edges a bit to help them stand out more.
* Try doodling three lines for a border.

Here are some close up's:

Come back tomorrow for another 2 pager! :)

Have a wonderfully awesome day!

Christmas in July

Hi everyone! I will be sharing new stuff I made for CHA very soon, but in the meantime how about a Christmas 2 page layout? I actually made it last year. It was in the Nov/Dec 2010 issue of Creating Keepsakes. And I just kept forgetting to post it here on the blog. :)

And here are some close up's:

I cut each of those using my Slice. Then I added some glitter and "hung" them from the lace.

That red design is a large rub on. Right above that I added strips of foil to my layout. I crinkled them up and folded them over and attached it with staples. It creates a cool look and goes perfectly with the wrapping paper in the present in the pictures.

And that large star was just a design I did on my own. Here's my secret...it didn't fit perfectly together, in some places it overlapped and in some places there was a small gap. So I took some red glitter and made lines between all the pieces. It helped it stand out a bit more AND covered all my imperfections. :)

Ok...well I will be back very soon with some new stuff.

In the meantime, check out the Fancy Pants blog! They have been sharing sneaks of new lines and have been doing giveaways! You don't want to miss out.

Have an AWESOME day!!!!

Helmar Techniques

Hi everyone! Today I wanted to share a layout with you that I created a while back but haven't shared yet. It is a two page layout and it is just chalked full of Helmar techniques. :)

Techniques:
1. I used lace cardstock as a mask. I laid it over my two pieces of cardstock and the sprayed the V2 Vellum Adhesive over it. Then, after allowing it to dry a few minutes, I poured embossing powder over my cardstock. I then heat embossed.
2. On the remainder of the lace cardstock I added a little bit of pearl ex to it for a bit of shine.
3. I took some plastic wrapping (trash) from previously bought scrapbook supplies. I took my Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive and drew a heart it on the plastic. I let it dry a little bit, then I sprayed it with blue Glimmer Mist. I allowed that to dry a little bit, then took a q-tip and picked up the excess Glimmer Mist from the plastic. I allowed it to dry completely, cut it out and sprayed V2 Vellum Adhesive on the back to adhere it to my page. 4. I also added white Zap Dots (1/4") to my design, in the bottom left and right corners. I left the peeling on though and just used it as part of the design.
Helmar Products Used:
1. V2 Vellum Adhesive--for techniques and to adhere lace and lace cardstock to the page.
2. 450 Quick Dy Adhesive--for technique and to adhere bow to the page
3. Quick Fix Adhesive Runner--to adhere papers, chipboard and photos to the page.
4. Zapdots--added to page as part of the design.

Here are some close up's:

Scrap and Stamp Saturday

Hi everyone! The challenge is up at Scrap and Stamp Saturday. The challenge this week is to make a two page layout that includes stamping. Here's my layout:

I used papers and chipboard from Pebbles, and stamps from Unity Stamp Company. The stamp set I used is called Photo Love. Here are some close up's:

Hope you guys play along with the challenge this week! :)

So I am guess I am going to be shopping for new glasses. :( Eryn broke my glasses...my favorite glasses ever...yep, my bad luck continues. Well today I found out that the frame was discontinued and no long available. I am so sad about this! So now I need to find new ones that I like...when really all I want are my old ones back. Wish me luck.

Christmas in July?

I know...I know....well at least I got the month right this time. :) This is one of those projects that has been done for a while and was in the "to be posted on the blog" pile. :) I made it for a faith call that CK had. It didn't get picked up, but that's ok, I am very happy that I made it. And it's another 2 pager! Here it is...

And here are some close up's...

It's one of those layouts that I am just happy about the way it turned out...exactly like I had envisioned it. :) Don't get me wrong, I love many things that turned out completely different then what I was picturing in my head, but there is something nice about when it just all comes together just as you thought it would.

Maybe I should I have a Christmas in July week...I've got a few more of them. :)

And one last thing....make sure you check out ScrapScene today!!! ;)
