Spellbinders Series: Think Negatively

Welcome back for my second post in my Spellbinders series. Although I am using my Spellbinders' cutting system (Grand Calibur) you can use these ideas with any system you have. :) Today I am challenging you to think negatively! I always keep my scraps after cutting things out...for I love to use the negative parts! You can see that on all of the following projects. For these layouts, I used leftovers from these layouts.

Man, I just really love how this layout turned out. :) Those negative parts are from the Grand Labels One die and the Wonderful Wings die. I also used my butterfly that I cut from canvas. I stamped it to create a bit of design. That wonderful LOVE stamp is from Unity Stamp Company. The papers are all from BasicGrey's Indie Bloom collection. And notice how many brads I used on this layout...see, not at all out-dated. :)

Here are the close up's:

And then for my next layout I had a little fun and got a little artsy. I mixed paint and micro beads and then took a template from Crafter's Workshop and created that fun background. They have a bunch of fun templates I want to try, but alas I only have this one.

So I took these:

And made this:

I used the negative part from a piece from the Creative Book Pages die to frame around the photo, bricks and the negative butterfly (from Wonderful Wings die). The butterfly to the left is also a negative cut that I cut around and backed with white cardstock. I also had fun creating a brick look with scraps of paper.

Here are some close up's:

Ok...hopefully you are feeling at least a little bit inspired.

If you create something based on this post, please link it up so I can check it out! I'll even add a link in my post. :)

Have a wonderful day!

Mish Mash Layout

Hi everyone! Thanks for stopping in. :) Today I have a layout to share. It uses papers from Authentique, but it's a mish mash of collections...a little bit of Blissful, a little bit of Journey, a little bit of Uncommon and even a little bit of Glowing. Here it is...

That black part with the holes is from this. It's a sticker sheet containing the letters that I used to spell Eryn. I simply peeled off the negative part and used it on my page, all the letter stickers are still on it, well without the e, r, y, and n...but you know what I mean. :) So I can still use the letters and didn't waste anything.

I also used stamps from Unity Stamp Company...it's one of my favorite stamp sets: She Said. I couldn't find it listed on their site though so maybe they don't have it anymore. And then that chipboard window tab is from Magistical Memories.

Here are some close up's:

It's been a busy week for us here. Austin has a school music concert tonight, but first piano lessons for the boys. You probably know how it is when you run from one thing to the next...well that's our day today. While I will enjoy it, I also look forward to that moment when the kids are all in bed and I can actual sit down and relax. :)

Have a wonderful day today! Take time to relax.

Getting Ready

I guess I have been in a card making mood lately because I have more cards to share with you. Maybe it's just that I am gearing up for World Card Making Day on Oct. 1st. Speaking of...if you are planning on posting some cards to your blog for WCMD, why don't you go sign up HERE and be a part of the WCMD blog tour. :) Notice the logo on the right? Yep, I will be posting. I already have my cards made for that blog post.

But first, why don't I share some other cards that I made, all of them use the beautiful The Bright Side of Life collection from The ScrapCake, as well as some other fun stuff. :)

That awesome butterfly comes from the Embrace You stamp set from Unity Stamp Company. I have missed stamping lately, and just had to pull out some stamps. :)

And this card uses the Where You Are stamp set from Unity.

And here is one more card...

Speaking of The ScrapCake...did you see the sneak of their latest collection? I can't wait to play with it! Here's a sneak:

And you can see more of the collection here.

Thanks for stopping in today!!! Have an awesome day! :)

Unity, I adore you! :)

Ok...so it's no secret that I ADORE Unity Stamp Company! They are by far my favorite stamp company out there. Their rubber, their quality and their designs are the BEST! So I was thrilled when ScrapStreet featured them in The Showroom last January. Here's one of the layouts I made for that article:

The stamps are of course from Unity. The papers and stickers are all from Webster's Pages (another favorite of mine!). To view the whole supply list, go here.

Here are some close up's for ya...

You can view the Unity showcase article here. If you haven't tried using stamps on your layouts I HIGHLY RECOMMEND trying it! I love stamping. :)

Hope you have a remarkable, fantastic Monday.

LOVE Canvas! :)

I love love love using canvas on my projects. Back in March I wrote an article about using canvas on your layouts and cards. I loved seeing how others used canvas too. Click here to view that article.

Here's the layout I made for that article:

I mainly used the canvas as an embellishment and it even is placed kinda in the background. I lightly spritzed it with ink and stamped on it. Then layered it with all the embellishments around the photos.

Here are some close up's:

I used the fabulous Bella Doilies stamp set from Unity Stamp Company. LOVE this set! The papers are from My Mind's Eye. You can find the complete supply list here.

Life seems to be getting back to normal around here. Last night I booked my flight and hotel for a vacation to Maine this summer! I am super excited about...I've never been there before. Anything I just HAVE to do while I'm there?

Well, as always...thanks for stopping by!

Have a wonderful day!

Hip Hop!!!

It's Thursday...which means Hip Hop! You'll want to start the hop at the Unity Blog.

Today I will be sharing a layout with you that uses one of the new Itty Bitty's:

Love this set! You can see it/buy it here.

And here is the layout I made with it:

All the papers and trims are from Webster's Pages. It's their Spring Market line. I did this layout for their February challenge to use trims. And boy did I ever use some trims. :) I love trim.

Here are some close up's of the layout:

I used adhesive from Helmar to put it all together, including 450 Quick Dry Adhesive and then some Liquid Scrap Dots (for the small picture and the heart).

Have you heard about the new monthly challenges that Unity is doing? Every month, on the 15th, there will be a new challenge and a new chance to win! This month's challenge is all about the hearts. Check it out here.

You can also win a prize by participating in today's Hip Hop sketch. Check that out here.

And if you haven't already seen the February Kit of the Month, check it out here. It rocks! I seriously love it!

Now it's time to hop on to the lovely Natalie.

Next Blog

Hope you have a wonderful day!!!!

You Know You're a Scrapbooker When...

So it's the day AFTER V-day, and I still have a sick child on the couch. He still does not have his valentines or candy from the classmates. Hopefully he will be able to go to school tomorrow and then he'll get them.

Well today I am sharing a layout with you. It uses the store kit (exclusive to stores) from Unity Stamp Company called "Oh Happy Day."

And if you are anything like me, then you start singing as soon as you hear that name. Seriously...EVERY time, I sing. :) Anyways, this set is perfect for birthdays....but that's not what I used it for. ;) To see what the rest of the DT did with this kit, click here.

Here's my layout:

The papers are all from Cosmo Cricket, from their "Pixie-Licious" collection.

SOOOO....my neighbors probably know I am a scrapbooker, but who else would take a picture after their daughter LAID in a puddle of water. ;) Yep. And I tried to turn and get a picture of hubby's face as he saw her: :)

Haha...was going to put that one on the page too, but I couldn't figure out how to do it justice. So maybe I will do a page of just this photo.

Anyways, back to the layout...

Here are some close up's, so you can see all the details.

I used chipboard from Magistical Memories. I used some of the "clouds" pieces, and one of the "Art Deco Stems" pieces. I covered them with paint and before the paint could dry I sprinkled a little bit of glitter on it. The green got only a tiny bit of glitter while I put more on the clouds.

And you probably already know this about me, but I don't do flat very well. I like texture and dimension on my stuff. I tried something new this time. I created borders with paper that come together on one end and make a loop (tried to not make a crease) on the other end. Then I sewed it to my page with my sewing machine on the top, so the bottom pops out.

I'm sure it will flatten over time, but I really liked the way this turned out. I was going to do it with fabric, but then thought, hey...why not just do it with paper.

I did use adhesive from Helmar to put the whole thing together, using just the Quick Fix Adhesive Runner.

And there you have it...my layout and all the details of it.

Hope you have a fantastic day!!!
