SSCC #15 and Birthday Blog Hop

Let me start by saying a hugh HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Lisa!!!!!

Lisa is one of our fearless leaders over at Stampin' Sisters in Christ. :) And her work is always beautiful!

Instead of just posting our challenge cards today we thought we would also make it a birthday blog hop! So start at the SSCC blog. :)

The challenge was to make a card or project with gifts on it. Here's the card I made:

The stamps are from Stampin' Up! and the patterned paper is from My Little Shoebox. The cardstock is Bazzill and the gems are from Zva Creative.

And since we are partying for Lisa's birthday...here is what I am bringing to the party...tickets to Europe!

Ok...no that picture of Charlie with the golden ticket has nothing to do with Europe...but doesn't it make you sing..."I've got a golden ticket..." No, Europe is Lisa's dream vacation, so let's all play along...we can all go right. :)

Ok, now why don't you continue the party by hopping on to the fabulous Peggysue. :)

Scrap and Stamp

This week's challenge at Scrap and Stamp is to create a layout about a fall tradition. It must include stamping on it as well. Here's the layout I created for the challenge:

Everything is from Pink Paislee except the flower trim and the one frame stamp from Unity.

I was getting ready to put ribbon behind my circle, which is something I have done many times and I thought...why not try something new. So I decided to use the letter stickers and create a border around the circle with the word "pumpkins" over and over again. I love how it turned out! :)

I really do hope you play along with us this week! :)
Have an awesome Saturday!

My Crazy Husband (plus more MLS)

Oh man my husband is crazy. He stood in line since 8pm LAST NIGHT to get the deal he wanted. And he did get what he wanted. But seriously, I would never do that. In fact I avoid Black Friday like the plague. :) Too many people. The deals you want are always gone and the rest seems no better than any other sale. And you are supposed to start shopping at like 4:00 in the morning. Definitely not for me. :) And now my husband is home and crashed in bed.

Anyways, I thought I would show you the rest of my stuff for My Little Shoebox this month. I swear, every month we get different lines to play with, and every month I think "this has got to be my favorite line yet." This month I worked with the "Imagine a Forest" line (available at stores that carry MLS). I already showed you one layout (strollin)...here are two more layouts and a card:

Well if you are out enjoying Black Friday then I hope you get the deals you want! :)

Have a fabulous Friday!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

I hope you all are getting some quality time in with the family today...and of course enjoying loads of fabulous food. :) The same can be said for my friends outside of the US. :)

I wanted to take time to post this awesome project that my son did! He is doing Cub Scouts this year and they gave each boy a bowling pin and asked them to decorate it. My son did this all on his own! I swear, that boy is SO creative. Here's the finished project:

He was a little disappointed because he didn't win anything. Kelby said that all the boys' projects looked professional...and come on...a 6 year olds' art project should not look professional. Oh well. I put it on display in our house and said I would use it to decorate every fall. I think that made him feel better. :)

Well, again, Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Tomorrow I will post more of my DT work with My Little Shoebox for November.

Is Strollin' a word?

Ok, so it doesn't really matter if it is or it isn't...it's the title of my layout that I did. :) My Little Shoebox changed things up a bit and one of our DT projects each month will be a lift of another DT member's layout. This month we are all lifting a layout from the amazingly talented Michelle. See this blog post here for her layout or more info (even though the deadline has passed you may still be able to play along). Here's the layout that I did:

I have to challenge myself every now and then to tilt everything. Usually it seems I line up everything in a very linear pattern. :) So I have to make myself get a little crocked...or a lot. :)
Well, it's the day before Thanksgiving. I have to hit the store today to get a few more things...think there is anything left? I hope you all have the best of Thanksgivings. I will be posting tomorrow to show you a project that my son did! Until then...

A card...

Here's a quick card I made...

Aren't those squirrels adorable? Just wait, you will see a lot more of them. :) The papers and chipboard are from My Little Shoebox.

So the grandparents have left. Now for Thanksgiving. :) At least it is not at our house. I still have to get the house clean in case people come over. And I still will have to cook some. But Thanksgiving is at my in-laws this year. My husband is very excited about that and has been helping his mom plan the menu. You'd think he was throwing this dinner party. :)

Plan to get a lot of scrapping done today! :)

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

I like...

I thought I would make a random list of things I like. I even tried to put them in alphabetical order. :) And I used these fun, random, pictures that Kathie took. Here's how the layout turned out:

I love the row of chipboard...I will have to do that again. :) The papers and chipboard are from Pink Paislee.

Ok, this the second post for today, so scroll down if you are looking for today's sketch.

I am actually taking a break from the Grandparents today. They will be hanging with my dad all day, I hate to do that to him because he really has a hard time seeing them that way, but I want to get a lot of stuff done...like laundry and some layouts for calls. :) So I hope to have a very productive day.

Supplies:
Papers, Chipboard, Flower and Brad--Pink Paislee, White Cardstock and Twill--Stampin' Up!, Computer Program--Microsoft Word, Computer Font--"Lindy Kay" (from http://lindarodriguez.typepad.com/my_socalled_life/2009/03/fontmaking-fun.html).

Sketch 173

Oh man...another Monday. All kids are home because Austin has the whole week off school.

Well here's the new sketch for the week:

SSCC #14

This is going to be a quick post today. With the unexpected visit of my grandparents who are not well at all, and so much else going on, I feel like I have hardly had time to breathe...just way too busy. I am writing this Saturday night, and I can't tell you how much I am looking forward to church in the morning. It is an escape. Plus we have a new pastor! So I am hoping for a great morning...then back to the Grandparents.

The challenge over at SSCC this week is to make a Thanksgiving card. Such a great challenge, and I do believe that I have never made one before! :) So here is what I did:

The stamps are from Unity Stamp Company. :)

Ok...I wish you all the best of Sundays!

Scrap and Stamp

The challenge at Scrap and Stamp is to create a scrapbook layout that uses stamps and this sketch:

Here's what I did for the challenge:

I used papers from Rusty Pickle and that stamp is from Hero Arts.

There's a fabulous SOLD OUT Scrapbooking Kit from Unity Stamp Co. for the prize this week so I sure hope you play along with us! :)

Now, I need you to wish me luck, or better yet, pray for me. We are off to my parents to spend the day there. My grandparents unexpectedly dropped by. They are in real bad shape. My grandmother has alzheimers and is at a point where she can't even do anything herself. My grandfather has a lot of mental problems that I think were brought on by the stress of taking care of my grandmother. He believes demons follow him everywhere and are actively seeking to ruin his family....and while I actually do believe in demons, what he sees and believes is far more then just knowing there is a war going on between angels and demons. He lives with extreme parania and he is always seeing and hearing things that are not there. I wish I could convey how scary it can get at times. But my dad needs us there. So we are off...

My Gift

Man, I think I am still recovering from the retreat. I am just so tired, and I haven't felt much like scrapping or anything. I just want to play with the kids all day and then watch tv and go to bed at night. My friend Katrina calls it the retreat hangover.

Remember how I was telling you that we did secret sister gifts at the retreat...well I thought I would show you what I made for my secret sis. :) Tracey was my secret sis and this is what I made for her:

I painted the canvas, then sprayed lightly with some glimmer mist over a glimmer screen. That butterfly is a stamp from Tattered Angels that I stamped, embossed, and cut out. Tracey had given me pictures of her scrap room so the colors of this project are meant to go along with that. :)

Ok, well I hope you have a fabulous Thursday! I well spending much of the day preparing for a Christmas Card workshop I am doing at my church tomorrow.

Retreat Wrap Up

So as you know, I have just returned from the Rusty Pickle retreat. Those that attended were either on the design team or worked for Rusty Pickle. It really was a BLAST! I loved meeting people in real life. I thought I would show you some pictures. Unfortunately I don't have a group picture of us all, and I am surprised by how little pictures I did take.

Let me start with a project I made while I was there. It was SO quick and easy. All of the retreat attendees received an awesome package of goodies from sponsors (many awesome sponsors). One of those sponsors was Say It With Letters. Each one of us received a wooden house. Here is what I did with mine, using Rusty Pickle paper of course. :)

And at the retreat we had a secret sister swap. I will show you what I made for the swap tomorrow. My secret sister gift was given to me by Dawn, and I loved it! Here is what I received from Dawn:

Isn't it amazing! She even found pics of my family to put in it! Did I mention that I love it? Thank you Dawn!!!

Ok, and here are some pics....

I snagged this one from Cathleen. I managed to forget to take pictures of the cabin. :)

We had some deer that would come right up to the house. It was funny, because I see deer a lot but several of the gals were really impressed by this. :)

This one is another one that I snagged, from Julie. I think I went into the hot tub every night. And I won't show you pictures (even if you pay me, and yes, there are pictures) but this group of gals here (including myself) did something a bit crazy...we all got out of the hot tub, made snow angels in our swimsuits and then of course jumped back in the hot tub. :)

And then here are some pics of the crazy hula-hoopin' girls. I tried but couldn't do it. :)
Here's Kim--
and Mandie--

Beckie--
And Jill--
And here is our fearless leader Tasha, as she watched. I don't think she tried to hula hoop but maybe I missed it. :)

And then just a few more fun pics...

Beckie and Tracey--
Jeri and Alaina--
Me, Noeleen and Heidi--

Seriously, thank you Rusty Pickle for such a fun retreat!

Oh and I have to give a huge shout out to my peeps...ROCK ON TABLE 8! :)

While I was gone

Oh man, I just got back from a fun retreat! It was the Rusty Pickle retreat and I got to meet most of the rest of the DT and pickle workers in real life...I really had a blast! We also got to do all the classes that Rusty Pickle will be teaching throughout the year. I'll try to post some pictures later. First I need to post several things for while I was gone. :)

This week's challenge at Scrap and Stamp was to scrap your spouse or significant other, and of course you need to have stamping on your work. Here is what I did for the challenge:

I used a lot of different stuff on this layout, but I wanted to point out that those family labels are from Tattered Angels. I sprayed them with glimmer mist. That swirl is also from Tattered Angels, it is one of the Glimmer Glass pieces. That stamp is from Stampin' Up! It's one of those stamp sets that I just couldn't part with when I was selling all my SU stamps. :)

And then the challenge at SSCC was to create a shadowbox card. You can find more information on the challenge and shadowbox cards here. Here is what I made for the challenge:

Those papers are all from Pink Paislee, aren't they just gorgeous! That awesome stamp is a Gillian Roberts stamp that I just had to get after seeing it on someone else's blog. :)

And you may have saw the post for the Thankful for Friends of Faith blog hop that I had here on my own blog. But I also made a card for the SSCC blog and this hop. Here is that card:

Those papers are from Pebbles and the stamp is from Unity. :)

I have a lot more to show you, but I think I will do it in another post. :)

For now, let me leave you with the sketch for this week.

And here is what Katrina did with the sketch:
