Somebody asked me to do some sketches for 4 x 6 horizontal photos. So here's a few:

UPDATE
Sorry I haven't updated lately. I am disappointed because my camera stopped working right and I can't take any good pictures of the pages I am doing. :( But thankfully, I am getting a new camera (I was anyways) with our tax return (which should come pretty soon)...so as soon as I can, I will take pictures of the work I am doing and get them up on my blog! :)

I've Gone Coco'Nutty!
LOL. No surprise...I am a little bit nutty. :) I have been chosen to be on the original design team for the Coconut ScrapShop. These are exciting times. :) The Coconut ScrapShop is a store (that has awesome kits) that is expanding online to create all sorts of new things...like a blog and a gallery, etc. I am very excited and honored to have been chosen to help with this. And, the owner: Jen Glover, used to live near me...how cool is that. It is such a small world. So they already have a new blog that is up and running...stop by and check it out!
Something cool about the site...first time buyers pay only $15 for their first kit! How cool is that! Seriously, check it out!!! :)

A LO kind of girl :)
I did a layout last night! It was a lot of fun. I really didn't feel like scrapping and almost made myself do it (because I knew it would make me feel better). And boy am I glad I did....I immediately was feeling better. :) The thing is...when I altered the spice rack...it felt like work to me. But when I do layouts...it is fun. Maybe I am just not an altering type of gal. :) For the majority...I will likely stick to layouts. :)

Altered Spice Rack
For the Survivor contest over at Making Memories For You I needed to alter something, and include a transparency on it. I decided to alter an old spice rack.
I first dumped all the old spices and washed the containers in the dishwasher.
Then I painted the whole thing pink (kinda hard to see in the picture).
Then I sorted through all of my buttons--this took forever. :)
I filled the containers with buttons and decorated the lid with pp and the color buttons in the container (or in some cases--the shape).
Then I put ribbon around the bottom and top of the spice rack...again, this is hard to see in the picture...but it is white ribbon that I tied lots of knots in.
Then I decorated the top.
I created an image from scratch of words that create a flower shape and printed it on a transparency, and then painted around it with 3D paint. Here is the image I created in case anybody wants to use it themselves.
Supplies:
Patterned Paper--Scenic Route, Basic Grey, DCWV, My Minds Eye.
Paint--Making Memories
Ribbon--Making Memories and Stampin' Up
Transparency
Computer font--Decaying Kuntry
3D Paint--Scribbles
Fancy Pants packaging (this is the scallops that I used on top)
Crystal Effects (I put buttons on with this, but I also made random bubble dots on the pp on top--this is very hard to see on the picture, sorry.)
Recent Projects
Here are some things I have done recently, I did all of these for the Survivor contest over at Making Memories For You.

The first challenge for this contest will be issued on Thursday, Feb. 21st. Bring on the Bling!
This is a layout that I did tonight. One of my best friends, Ty (we call her Ty, her real name is Tylene) had a son whom they named Kyen (we call him Ky). So we have Ty and Ky. :) The pp is Fancy Pants...I love it. Then I just had fun...experimenting. I sewed scallops on the twill (didn't work out exactly as planned---but it is ok). I layered several embellishments on the bottom corner of the photo, including a Hambly overlay, sticker bling, rub-on's, flowers, and an epoxy sticker. I like how that turned out. I found these stickers from Stampendous that I have had for awhile and not used...they look like rhinestones...or bling. Well, here is a tip on how I used them, being that the stickers were so small. I took my paper piercer and picked up the sticker with it (sliding it gently under the sticker). Then I put it on to the paper (flower and scallops--overlay) using the paper piercer as well. When I used my fingers I couldn't see where I was putting it and the stickers were getting stuck everywhere.

Hanging Out
Yeah...I did another page...my first after my HOF stuff. The pictures weren't that great but I really wanted to scrapbook them...because they are real...this is us when us girls get together. So I thought a collage of pics might be nice. I really had fun with this. It was in response to an ad challenge at Scraplovers.

Nothing like cutting it close
My HOF entry is on it's way...guaranteed to be there by 4:30pm on Monday. Monday is the deadline. I kept running into problems while putting my portfolio together. Ran out of one ink...then ran out of another (could have kicked myself for not checking on all the other ink or buying others at the store the first time). And then when I was doing my portfolio I found that on a few of my pages in my mini book I punched the holes on the wrong side! So I had to remake those pages. That's how it goes when you are doing this at the last minute. :) But it is such a relief to have it off. Now I will just anxiously await my confirmation that it arrived. And then...of course...find something else to consume my mind while waiting forever before they announce any winners. I think I read that it will be April 4th when they make the calls. That seems like decades away. Anyways. So tonight I am going to take a long, hot, bubble bath and then watch LOST (the first of this season...I tivo'd it but haven't watched it yet). I doubt I will scrap tomorrow...but next week I will post new stuff...I promise!

Having a Mary Spirit
As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!" "Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her." {Luke 10:38-42}
The truth is that we have all heard this before. We know the story. But the lesson learned is SO important that we need to hear it again...and again...and again. I would like to say that I have both a Martha and a Mary spirit within me. But I also know that I probably have a bit more Martha in me then Mary. I tend to serve...to do do do...both in my church and in my life. I KNOW that I need to spend time at Jesus' feet...but the busier I get with other things, the less time I am in prayer or in the Word.
"But what stood out most to me was the fact that when Jesus scolded Martha about her busyness, He wasn't condemning her efficiency and hard work or her can-do personality. He wasn't telling her she had to be just like Mary to please Him. Jesus simply didn't want Martha to be so caught up in kitchen service for Him that she missed out on the joy of living-room intimacy with Him." {Joanna Weaver}
This is one of those lessons that keeps coming back to me. The Lord often has to remind me...to nudge me and whisper "a little bit more of a Mary spirit, Pamela." More intimacy. And the truth is, the better the intimacy...the better the service.

A New Sketch
I regularly post sketches and challenges at my myspace group: Scrapbook Challenges. I thought maybe I would post my latest sketch here too.
Tagging
I am not sure that I like this whole tagging thing...does it ever end? :) I have been tagged again! This time I have been tagged by Christine (aka Chrispea). So now I have to tell you 7 interesting things about me...
1. I graduated with a degree in social work. I used to do intensive behavioral intervention with kids, and then I went on to manage a homeless shelter. I LOVED doing the homeless shelter, and used to dream of opening my own homeless shelter.
2. I also have dreamt of becoming an author...writing fiction. I currently have several "novels" in process as well as recorded stories of my life.
3. I still have all my letters from friends in my childhood years and teen years...and I also have a notebook full of poetry that I wrote during those times.
4. I have photoshop CS2, but rarely use it because I haven't taken the time to figure it out...I actually just use another program that I have that I know how to use (Digital Image Suite 10). I really need to learn to use my photoshop.
5. I loved my math classes in high school.
6. I am geographically challenged and directionally impaired.
7. I absolutely LOVE to play games. My family tries to get together every Sunday and play games.
Ok...there you have it.
So, I have no new layouts to share, since I am frantically trying to finish my HOF stuff, but I will share a picture. It's the most recent picture I have of me...not my favorite pic but it is me in my new glasses. I played around and totally changed the background. What do you think?

Because I Said So!
When I was a kid I used to HATE it when my parents would tell me no and when I asked why they replied "Because I said so." I hated it! I vowed never to say that to my kids...to always explain to them why I was saying no. But now that I am a parent...I see the value in "Because I said so." While it is nice for kids to try to understand why their parents are saying no, it is also important for us to learn to obey simply for the sake of obedience. We are training our kids to grow up and be Godly men (or in other cases, women). And God rarely explains why we shouldn't do something...although it may be obvious in some cases. We absolutely must know how to obey God simply because He is God and He has said so! Where do we learn how to do this? Is obedience learned in childhood...in those Because I said so's? It is important. Now if I can only figure out how to make my kids more obedient. :)

Tagged again!
Wow...I have been tagged again...not by one person, not by two...but by three people--Michelle (aka scrappyhappy08), Angie (aka craftyscrapr), and Amy (aka SillyGooseMonkey) :) So, I guess I better participate.
Here are the rules:
1. You have to post the rules before you give your answers.
2. You must list one fact about yourself beginning with each letter of your middle name. (If you don't have a middle name, use your maiden name).
3. After you are tagged, you need to update your blog with your middle name and your answers.
4. At the end of your blog post, you need to tag one person for each letter of your middle name. (Be sure to leave them a comment telling them they've been tagged and that they need to read your blog for details).
OK...here we go:
C--Creative (I feel like I have a creative soul)
H--Happy (I have never been more content with my life and who I am then I am right now)
R--Rad Rold (if you don't get it--you don't get it)
I--Introvert (Yep...shy...rather stay at home then socialize)
S--Sincere (I try to be genuine and sincere with everyone)
T--Thoughtful (I am thoughtful of others and try to put myself in someone else shoes...I also am always thinking)
I--Imaginative (I dream all the time...awake...asleep...sometimes I'd rather lay down and let my imagination run wild then watch a movie)
N--Nice (it really bothers me when people can't be nice!)
E--Enjoy Eating (Yep...I like to eat...I enjoy food)
Off to see who I can tag...

It's February!
It's February and I haven't quite finished my HOF stuff. Ugghhh. :) I was working on a layout tonight. I held it up and asked my husband what he thought...his reply..."it's very you." What does that mean? I wanted to ask if that was good or bad, but I decided to let it go. But he was right...it is very me. :) Ah...but will CK like "me"? I have to redo a couple of my layouts...one simply because I am unhappy with it and another because I can't read. :) The assignment: Crafty Combo. I made an awesome layout incorporating quilting onto my page...then when looking through rules realized that it says a "non-layout project." Grrr...but it is ok, because I really like the page so I will just submit it as one of my 4 favorite layouts. So now I am getting out my paint and a canvas and working on a "non-layout project." And I still have to finish my mini book. But don't worry---I will make the deadline...I always do. In fact I seem to work better under pressure...so I will work hard and CK will have it by February 11th. Wish me luck! :)
