World Card Making Day!!!!

Wow...it's here...WCMD, and it came FAST!!! If you have come from Paper Crafts...welcome! :) We are celebrating WCMD at Unity by all of the DT members posting challenges on their blogs. Yeah...this is going to be so fun!

Why participate:
1. It's fun!
2. You'll get cards made!
3. You can win an itty bitty stamp by participating in my challenge (and all the challenges).
4. For those who play along with ALL challenges INDIVIDUALLY- they will be entered to win a GRAND PRIZE of KOM FREE FOR A YEAR!

Seriously....what a prize!!!!!

Ok, here is my challenge to each of you:

Challenge: Create a card that uses stamping on fabric or other mediums.

I created several samples for you today.

On this card, I took a strip of fabric and then stamped those little birds on them. You could also do this with twill or ribbon! These stamps came from the August kit of the month.

On this card I stamped that bird cage directly onto some fabric. I used the "Free to Be" stamp set on this one.

And then this card uses a canvas tag that I took apart from an album. I did a little masking and stamping on it. :) It uses the "She Sprouted Wings" stamp set.

Now here are the Unity rules:
1. You need to use Unity or Ippity stamps in order to qualify for Unity's prizes. **but if you don't have Unity or Ippity I would still love to see what you do, just leave me the link, plus you can still win...see below.
2. You need to also upload the card to the Splitcoast Stampers gallery, and you need to include this code: USCWCMD05 as a keyword.
3. You have until 10/16 to upload your card. Winners will be announced on the 10/21 hop.

BUT I also have a prize to give away, just for my blog readers...and especially those who have come this way via Paper Crafts. :) One lucky person will get this:

That is the "Togetherness" line from Cosmo Cricket.

How do you qualify:
1. Just leave me a comment on this post! :)
2. Double your chances by doing my challenge and leaving me a link to your card on another comment to this post.

Daddy's Little Girl

So I got a new layout for you. :) I used the new Porcelain line from Basic Grey. LOVE it! I added a lot of soft touches to the layout, including some fun fabric. Here it is:

About the layout:
1. I wasn't sure if I would like this photo because of the harsh light and the lines that were formed on it from the blinds...but I love it! :)
2. I used my new DT stuff from Creative Chaos (journaling spots):

You can find those here.
3. I used my foam stamps with paint to stamp the "daddy's" in the title. I was missing my letter s though, so I cut a similar sized s from foam and made my own stamp. :) (I then used a sharpie to outline the letters on the layout).
4. Those chipboard buttons are sprayed with glimmer mist! Gotta love it. :)
5. I wanted to add fabric in a creative way to my layout. I cut random pieces of fabric (pink polka dot) and then arranged them around my layout, folding each one over, to create a unique border around the layout:

6. That cute bird cage is cut out from patterned paper from Basic Grey.
7. There are so many cute flowers out there that you can buy...but I challenge you to make your own...it is so easy. :)

Here's how I made my flower:
* I started with my chipboard button from Jenni Bowlin. I had this on hand, but you could easily make your own chipboard button.
* I sprayed it with glimmer mist to give it a little something extra (two colors).
* I took a piece of lace from Websters Pages and then loosely and quickly sewed along the edge...then I pulled the thread causing it to tighten on one end and curl together. I taped it to the back of my chipboard button.
* Then I cut some strips of patterned paper from Basic Grey. I inked around the edges and arranged them on top of each other to create a flower. Then I adhered it all together.

Supplies:
Paper--Basic Grey, Journaling Spots--Creative Chaos, Stamps--Making Memories, Letter Stickers--Basic Grey, Lace--Websters Pages, Chipboard Buttons--Jenni Bowlin, Glimmer Mist--Tattered Angels, Thread--DMC, Paint--Van Gogh, Fabric--unknown, Black Sharpie.

Stamping on Felt

Don't forget my RAK on the entry below. :)

Today I made a LO and I wanted to include stamping. I stamped on the cardstock. I also stamped on some felt and added it to the page.

It was fun....but while I did this, my son wanted to work on a "project" of his own. He got out his paints and proceeded to paint all over papers...he used way too much and ended up getting paint all over is clothes, the table, the floor (including my rug). He is in the shower now...not that it will do him a lot of good. At least it was just in my craft room.

Supplies:
Cardstock--Bazzill, Stamp--Stampin' Up!, Felt--Hobby Loby, White Frame and Letters--American Crafts, Journaling Spot--Pink Paislee, Description Embellishment--K and Company, Used the Quickutz Revolution to cut my scalloped border, thread--DMC, Computer Font--Bernard MT Condensed.

New LO

So I cleaned my scrap room this week.  :)  And I was so inspired that I did two LO's and a card last night.  Here's one of the LO's:

The other LO and the card I will post tomorrow, because I want to type up a tutorial to go with them.  :)

Oh, and here is the scoop on the Black Market Paper Society (for those of you who have asked)...

I have their catalog.  There are 4 lines:  "Ebony & Alabaster" (black and white collection), "Letters from Paradise" (bright and fun...absolutely gorgeous!), "Lucky 'n Love" (yes, it is a "love" collection but it is not pink or red!  It is brown and teal, and looks like a lot of fun!), and then there is the "Let it Bloom" collection (urban chic colors with more flowers).

The Coconut ScrapShop has the "Letters from Paradise" line and it is already shipping out!  I have ordered it myself and as soon as I get it, I will get some pages done to post (I am really excited about this collection).

And the Lucky 'n Love line will be in the June kit at the Coconut ScrapShop...so you won't want to miss that!  :)  I will have pages to post soon with the June kit.

Journaling Reads:
 Being nice…caring about people…serving others…it is my passion.  I choose to live this way.  But it goes beyond passion and choice…it is a lifestyle.  It is a way to impact the world and help others.  By helping others…I help myself.  By being nice to others…I learn to like myself.  I try to always see things from other’s points of views.  I try to always help out when I can.  Love one another…it is not a cliché…it is the answer.  It may sound cheesy, but can you imagine how much better the world would be if we all displayed more kindness…more love for each other?  This is the legacy that I hope to leave for my children…if I can teach them to be nice—then I have accomplished much!!!  {Gal. 5:13}
This one was just "my favorites" (assignment).  I really love this one, though it is quite simple, I think it is a good representation of my style.  :)

Journaling Reads:
I am proud…I mean this in 2 different ways.  First of all, I am very proud of my mother, for opening her own quilt shop.  She catches a lot of slack for all the time and $ she has put into this—but this is her dream—she has always wanted to open one.  And she is so good at it—the way she pays attention to the little details of everything in the shop.  And I hear the customers talk of how much they love her shop!  And, secondly, I am proud to be a quilter myself…in times when it may not be popular.
Tell me what you think!  :)
