Show your backsides!

So I did a page for Webster's "Show us your backsides" contest.  I did it real quick.  But now I wish I would have put more effort into it.  See I forgot about the prizes...I was thinking of it just as a challenge (like their past monthly contests)...but first prize gets to be a guest designer and gets new product!  Shoot!  Oh well...so I am not going to win, but let me show you the page I made...

Everything is from Websters Pages: papers, stickers, and lace.  I added thread and 3D paint.  The contest ends tomorrow night, so if you have time and have Websters Pages papers...join in!  Maybe I will even have time to make another layout, although I doubt it...I have a busy weekend.

I {heart} trim...oh and Lily Bee too! :)

So it seems like just yesterday I couldn't believe my baby was in Kindergarten.  Now I can't believe he is out of Kindergarten!  I've already started my list of things to do this summer.  But guess what is one of the things Austin wants to do.  :)  He wants to take an art class!  He's already said that he wants to spend a lot of time crafting with mama too.  He's so sweet.  But don't worry...I'll make sure he plays outside too.  :)

I've got a mini album to share with you today.  I made it for this contest.  Nothing like waiting til the last minute.  The contest's last day is today and I sat down and made the album last night.  Those Lily Bee papers are ADORABLE and right up my alley!  Love those colors!  Love the birds and the trees!  These papers were made for me.  :)  And you know how much I love trim so I played around a lot with that too.  Here it is:

And I learned a new trick (for me) with making this album.  I usually do back-stitching for all my projects.  But I wanted my stitching to look good on both sides.  So I sewed through once so it looked like this:  --  --  --  --  and then came right back through doing the same thing to make it go like --------.  Then I tied a little knot (which just adds to the design) and ta da...looks great on both sides.  I don't think I explained that very well.  Maybe I will type up a tutorial on that.  :)  Anyways, here are the pages of the album:

I made this album while I was watching "New In Town."  Such a cute movie.  I was worried that I wasn't going to really like it because I thought it was going to give scrapbookers a bad name.  There's scrapbooking in it...did you know that?  Well it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be and didn't really bother me at all.  No the scrapbooking wasn't like the modern scrapbooking...but it wasn't that bad!  So I recommend the movie to any and all.   :)

Have a fabulous friday and an awesome weekend everyone!!!

Another Glimmer Mist Technique

Ok, so I have already shown you all the basic glimmer mist technique with glimmer screens. Today I am going to do it a little bit different. Instead of the glimmer mist being around the glimmer screen we want the image of the glimmer screen to be in glimmer mist. Basically, we are stamping using our glimmer screens. You can also use brass templates for this technique.

To start off, grab your glimmer screen/template and make sure you have something behind that is ok to get spray on.

Then spray the glimmer mist/ink on the screen. This technique is really pretty when you use multiple colors. I used three different colors.

Then you want to pick it up, and turn it over face down on your paper.

Tip: With glimmer mist, you can use your heat gun to help it dry quicker.

And then if your paper is curled you may want to place it under a heavy book for a little bit to flatten it or you can adhere another sheet of cardstock behind it to help keep it flattened.

I ended up adding some rub-on's, some words, and a frame to my paper to make this card:

Hope you give it a try. It really is fun. And you should be able to use just about any kind of template and any kind of ink. I just love Glimmer Mist.

Hybrid Mini

You may have already seen this, it was up on Audrey's blog (uses here product).  :)

As soon as I saw the "Big Numbers" kit I knew that I wanted to use it to make a mini album. I wanted it to be a random mini where I used each number for my journaling...page one would have one thing about me...page two would have two things...and so on.

I started with my cover for my album. This is what I designed in photoshop for the cover (Uses the Big Numbers kit and the Be {Re}Solved kit):

I printed my cover. Then I wanted to add some fun embellishements. Since my album was "random" I really wanted my embellishments to be kind of random too. Here's the finished cover:

Then I moved on to the pages. I shrunk each of the numbered pages down and printed them, then adhered them to my page along with some ribbon or trim. One other thing I really wanted to do was to cut the edges of my book pages. I've seen several of those cool albums around where all the pages are shaped differently, but I don't have any of those albums. So I thought I would cut my own edges on a regular 6 x 9 album. Here's how the pages turned out:

Since my focus of this album was really about the journaling, I took time to sit down with a notebook and make some lists. I just thought of topics of lists...like favorite movies or songs. I tried to throw in some topics that may be a little bit deeper than that too.

Then I narrowed down what I wanted to say and added it to my pages. My final topics:

One Best Song Ever
Two Goals for My Life
Three Places I have Lived
Four Secret Crushes
Five Things I Couldn't Live Without
Six Things I Don't Like
Seven Things I Wish Were Different
Eight Things I Love
Nine Books I love
Ten Character Traits

Here's how they look:

Scrapbook Challenges

I started my little group of scrapbookers on myspace in January of 2007! We are now at over 1700 members! That is just incredible to me. If you are on myspace, we would love for you to come visit us. I know that myspace is not as "in" as facebook is now :) but it can still be a fun place to be. You can find our "little" group at http://groups.myspace.com/Scrapbookchallenges. We have multiples challenges and a sketch issued every Monday. And everyone who completes a challenge gets entered into a drawing for a prize from our monthly sponsor. And we have had some great sponsors! This month is Studio Calico. :) Anyways...

This weekend we are spotlighting the fabulous DT at Scrapbook Challenges. And what better way to do that then a fun blog hop. And what's a fun blog hop without some fabulous prizes. :)

4 Fabulous Prizes, 4 Lucky Winners!

1. Our first RAK is the May main kit from Scarlet Lime!!!! Click here for pics of the kit and a list of contents. How do you get a chance to win this? All you have to do is participate in this blog hop and leave a comment on all of the blogs! It's not a long blog hop...there are only 9 of us. So start with me and leave a comment! Then hop on!

2. Our second RAK goes to one lucky person who plays along with us this weekend. We will have an exclusive blog hop sketch that I will post below. All you have to do is make a layout based on the sketch. Then you can post a link to it here on my blog or in the Scrapbook Challenges group here. What is the prize for this one? The "Glossary" add-on kit AND the Carter Stamp Set from Studio Calico:

3. The third RAK requires a little detective work. :) The prize is this awesome stamp set from Unity Stamp Company:

You get entered into the drawing for this one by sending me an email, to pamelacy@msn.com, with the answers to these questions:
1. Which one of the DT members can taste something from a restaurant 1 - 2 times and recreate that meal? (Such an AWESOME skill by the way)
2. Which member of the DT almost made it to the national fencing team when she was in college?
3. Which DT member daydreams of painting her mustang Barbie pink?
4. Which Scrapbook Challenges DT member was missing from our blog hop this weekend?
