Today's Forecast: Bright!

Hi everyone! I haven't scrapped much these past weeks, but I sat down last night and made several layouts. :) Man I just love scrapbooking, it really can provide a sense of therapy. :)

So I am going to share one with you, and the rest over the next few days.

Here's the first one, it's very bright and fun (which is exactly what I needed to work with at the time!)

Everthing is from BasicGrey's Lauderdale collection. Here are some close up's:

Speaking of BasicGrey, did you know they have a new blog? I remember wishing that they had one not that long ago.

Well anyways...thanks for popping in! I'll share more tomorrow.

Have an AWESOME day! :) (I am hoping to find a kitten to bring into our home and family today!)

First Maine Layout :)

Happy Friday everyone! Thanks for stopping in! I have a layout to share that I created using the AWESOME "Summer By The Seaside" collection from The ScrapCake. We went on vacation this summer to Maine and I knew this collection would be perfect for some of our pictures.

I have really been into circles lately, so I made a bunch of big circles as my design for the layout. Then I added some tags and images to tie it all together. Here are some close up’s:

I am very happy with the way it turned out. :) I seriously think this collection is fantastic! Hope you get a chance to play with it!
And on another note...check out the Fancy Pants blog today for a CHALLENGE! :)
Have a wonderful day!

Back to School

It's that time.

As I was looking at the pictures I took of my boys on their first day of school, I was struck by how they seemed to look the same as last year (uniforms don't help), but there was one thing different. Austin was grumpy. He didn't want to go to school. He apparently doesn't like school anymore. But I told him I was still going to use the pictures I took. And I did.

Here's a back to school layout for this year...

Please ignore that shadow! I had a hard time taking a picture of my layout, see those pencils are on a transparency that I built my layout on, so there is a reflection. Sorry about that.

The wonderful papers and embellishments are all from the "Off To School" collection from Fancy Pants Designs. I do believe it is the BEST school collection ever! :)

Just so you can see what I am talking about...

Here are some close up's:

Like I mentioned, that piece with the pencils is a transparency. I rotated it so they were on the side. I built my layout on the transparency without the bottom sheet (gray ruler/grid patterned paper) attached so that I could turn the transparency over and add adhesive under my papers and embellishments that were on top so you can's see any adhesive through the transparency to adhere to the gray piece of patterned paper. It also helped to adhere the transparency by adding the stitching.

And one other funny thing to share with you. Last night I was teasing Austin about his grumpy pictures and telling him I was going to scrap them, and he left me a message....

I love it! :)

Have a wonderful day! And thanks for stopping in! :)

Fun News!!!

I have some fun and exciting news to share with you today...you are looking at one of the newest Design Team Specialists for Authentique!

I have seen their papers both online and in real life and I think they are just gorgeous! I can't wait to play with them.

They have created two teams. I have already been asked this, so I will do my best to explain it AS I UNDERSTAND IT. Their design team will be used for specific projects and retailer support. The design team specialists just get to play and post and don't have specific requirements. This is new, and I really don't know how it all works quite yet, but hey...I'm just thrilled to be on the team! :)

You can read the announcement here.

A HUGE congrats to all the other ladies who made the teams:

Design Team

Tifany DeGough (DT Coordinator)
Virginia Tillery (returning DT Member)
Misty Buck (recently announced)
Jeannie DeGruccio (recently announced)
Jill Cornell (recently announced)

Busy Busy Busy

This is the last week before school starts and we are busy getting prepared. Getting and labeling all of the school supplies. Getting school hair cuts and school clothes. They have to go in for testing, which happens to be today. Our school always does testing right before school starts to see where the child is at, but it lasts over an hour usually. Plus, we are hoping for last minute fun things like movies and swimming. So sorry for the lack of posts...

I do have a few things to share.

Since I'm are talking about my kids, I will share that with you first. :)

In case you don't know, The ScrapCake has a children's department! I think it is absolutely fabulous! The kids can play along. And even though Austin and Hayden are BOYS :) they do like to play with mommy's scrap stuff too. So they played along in this month's challenge:
Isn't it so cute? They even made him a badge. :) And Austin loves it! Here is Austin's magnet:

And this is what Austin says about it:

I followed Kuba's advice and traced a house onto a paper. Then I put other papers around it and added some monsters. My grandma is having me memorize Bible verses, so I added one I am supposed to be learning. Then I found some flowers and put them on there. I really like it.

This is Hayden's magnet:

And this is what Hayden says about it:

I just added whatever I could find to my magnet. I made it with butterflies and flowers. I think it's pretty. I like it a lot.

He's six. :)

They enjoyed the project and they just love seeing their work online! I encourage you all to share your passion with your kids...to make it fun, and maybe even to a children's challenge! :)

And here is another layout to share with you...

It uses the gorgeous "The Bright Side of Life" collection from The ScrapCake.

Here are some close up's:

Ok, hope you all have a fantastic day!!!

Check out...

the Fancy Pants blog today! You'll see how I made a layout inspired by a card. Here's a sneak of my layout:

And then you should also check out The ScrapCake's blog. I've got a layout up there! There's also some fantastic ideas from more of the DT. :) Here's a sneak of that layout:

Hope you have a fantastic day!

Gorgeousness

So it took a long time for me to get my box from The ScrapCake. It was coming from Poland after all. But man was it worth it the wait! The papers are absolutely FABULOUS!!!! Here's the first layout I've created with these awesome papers:

This layout uses the Spring Awakening collection. Which is oh so beautiful! I really love these papers and die cuts.

Here are some close up's:

And just in case, I thought I'd share with you the EASY flowers I made on this layout...

First I took 3 flowers of different sizes. You can do this with one of your fancy machines or with punches, but you can even just cut them out by hand.

Then you take the edges of the flower and kind of pop them up and curl them over.

Do it for all three.

Then just layer them together!

Easy peazy. You can add buttons or brads to the middle to give it a more unique look. I like to add stitching in the middle.

Thanks for stopping in today!!!!

Have a WONDEFUL day!

Psalm 121

Psalm 121 holds a special place in my heart. It has brought me a lot of comfort this year. Me and the kids have worked on memorizing it. We thought it would be fun to each make a canvas to hang in our rooms to remind us of the verses and their importance. So today I am sharing our canvases with you. :)

Austin's:

Austin said he made a concert scene, and imagined the verses as a song. Apparently it was a big production with fire and fireworks. :)

Hayden's:

Hayden choose to go a bit more simple and created some hills and a sun.

And now we come to mine:

I fancied myself a painter.
Then I fancied myself a paper crafter.
Then I fancied myself a sewer. (I'd say seamstress but that makes me think of sewing clothes...not sure what the real technical term would be for one who sews).
And I guess, in a way, I fancied myself an artist. :)

Here are some close up's:

The paper I used came from Crate Paper and My Mind's Eye. And there are no real techniques or anything on the background...I just had fun painting it.

So that was our little fun project for the weekend. Last night we actually made some magnets, but I will share those with you soon. :)

Have an AWESOME day!!!
