OWH Memorial Day Weekend Blog Hop!!!

Hi everyone! Welcome to the OWH Memorial Day Weekend blog hop! If you are just popping in, you can start the hop here or just continue on from here until the end and then start at the beginning! This is my first time ever participating in this! :) In case you don't know what OWH is...Operation Write Home began in 2007 with just a few cards made by friends on a message board; what began as an outlet for a hobby has become a much larger mission to help heroes keep in touch with home - and the effort has been joined by thousands of cardmakers! OWH receives handmade cards donated by crafters across America (and beyond!). And then the cards are sent to heroes deployed abroad (Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, National Guard). What an awesome service this is!
So for this blog hop we are all making a red, white, and blue card, with a "Missing You" theme. Here's my card:

And I thought I would also share this project with you. Me and my boys were making decorations for this weekend. I made a banner saying "Thanks" that I now have strung across my front porch. Here's a picture of that (not on my porch but strung across our shed):

I know it is hard to see that. You can click on it to view it larger. And here are a couple close up's to help you see a little better:

I want to shout a thank you to American families who have given the ultimate sacrifice...to those who have served or are serving...to those that sit at home and wait and pray for their loved ones that are working to protect our great nation. We cannot say thank you enough. Even as I write this, tears are welling up in my eyes. I know several of you wives, and I just don't know how you do it...you too are very brave!
Well I thought I would offer up some blog candy for leaving a comment on this post (btw...I also have blog candy in my post below this!). Here's what one lucky winner will get (I know...it's not patriotic, but it is still fun!):

It is the "Flying High" collection from My Little Shoebox. :) All you have to do is leave a comment on this post and I will draw one random winner after this weekend.
Have a fantastic weekend!

(My son and the flag he made yesterday! It's four sheets of paper that he taped together...thus the wide cross in the middle.)

I am so glad yall are doing this. So many people as I have said, just view this as another holiday weekend to cook out and take time off from work and visit with friends. They don't look at the true meaning behind this holiday and why we celebrate it. I really am happy you guys did this blog hop. I am glad to see all these cards going to our soldiers. Huge inspiration to get our selves crafty and use our talents to pay tribute to these people who wish they could be home with their families and the families who remember their loved ones this weekend. Thanks so much
