Commitment

Happy Friday everyone!

Today I am sharing another layout with older photos.  I learned a lot about commitment from my parents.  For starters, in a world where divorce is becoming second nature...I doubt my parents have ever even thought about it.  It could be because of their religious beliefs...but really, I think it's even more than that.  They make a commitment, and they keep it.  My dad was at the same job pretty much my whole life.  He is a very smart man, who does a job that not many people could do...he could have gotten a higher paying job at any time--but he made a commitment and was loyal to his company.

We don't see that much anymore.

I wanted to document this.

And I want to live a life much like my parents, where my kids can learn the value and importance of commitment.  The obvious place to start is in the family, and in my marriage.

I hope I get to the point in my life where I too can say I have been married 38 years.  :)   Or even 65 years, like my grandparents.

Please don't get me wrong--I am NOT judging people who divorce.  I actually understand that there are situations where it is necessary.  And it certainly can be easier.

But I think the actual concept of commitment is both romantic and noble.

Anyways...

Here's my layout that I wanted to share with you:

I used the beautiful Country Boutique collection from Fancy Pants Designs for my layout.  I love love love that girl in the dress.  I also love the clock and ticket die cuts.  The whole page came together really quickly.  I drew my hearts on the page, layered it all, and then came back and did my stitching wherever my hand drawn hearts were showing.  That way there is no wasted stitching hidden beneath the layers.

Here are some close up's of my layout:

Well thanks for stopping by the blog today!!!!

I hope you have a fantastic day and a wonderful weekend!  :)

I agree! My parents and my in-laws are still married and that just seems very rare these days. I love it. Great layout!

It's a great subject to cover really and I love the heart stitched around the journaling. My grandparents were married for over 55 years and it just doesn't happen much anymore...

I think this was a lovely thing to document and you're correct in saying that it doesn't seem to happen much anymore. Unfortunately I'm what I call a 'second time rounder' after remaining in my first marriage for over 20 years and luckily I'm extremely happy now. Pamela I love the colours on your page they are so subtle for the appropriate photo.

Beautiful page, Pamela. Commitment is definitely the key to a long marriage. My DH and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary last August. Sure there've been lots of rough places but we both knew we would never even consider a divorce. So we have daily made that choice to love each other in spite of any problems that surface.

Love the way you doodled and sewed the hearts on this. It just all came together to be perfection.

What a beautiful tribute to your parents! I too am a firm believer in " Until death do us part, my husband and I have been married 27 years. We've weathered some tough times but that is what marriage is about.

What a beautiful LO! I love the hearts and monochromatic color theme--I also agree that it's rare to see marriages last long these days. I pray for our marriage daily--that we would stay a cord of three (Ecc. 4:12b). Congrats to your parents!
