Using Ribbon

Well, I'm getting up a bit late today.  I have had stuff to post, but I just seem to crash at night, which is when I usually type up blog posts.  But instead of scheduling it for next week, I thought I would just go ahead and post it late this morning...if I don't get many comments...it's ok, I don't need to plan things out in a way where I think more people will see it.  It's things like that I just need to let go of (I have this strange notion that if I don't post early, I might as well not post at all that day and save it for later).  But if most people miss it--it's all good, I'm not going to stress about it.  :)  I think this whole blogging thing can get consuming, especially if you are trying to please readers instead of just posting what you do when you do it.  I have seen many bloggers out there strategizing to get the most viewers and comments....what do you bloggers all think about that?  Do you post things when you think the most people will see them?

Anyways...kind of went off on a tangent there.

Today I wanted to share a layout that I made for the Fancy Pants blog.  We were to focus on using ribbon creatively.  So I used this fun ribbon:

And created this fun layout:

I folded over small pieces and tucked them behind my paper, essentially making two borders of looped ribbon. I also added little pieces of the pink floral ribbon to my layout as design elements.  The layout uses the Summer Soul collection from Fancy Pants.  I really love combining brown with bright colors.  :)

Here are some close up's of my layout:

And in case you missed it, you should check out this post to see what the fabulous Betsy Veldman did with this ribbon.  Well thanks for stopping by today!

Have a wonderful day!!!

Super cute layout! Love how you used the ribbon! I schedule my blog posts for M-F at 3:00 AM pacific time. I prefer to schedule them, just so I don't have to worry about it.

Great way to use the ribbon, Pamela! It adds a really pretty border to the photo. I blog when I have something to share or something to say. If I don't (which is rare, LOL) I don't blog. :)

I try to use auto post to keep my posts consistent in time of day. Just like publication and why I've decided I'm not going to chase that bus, I don't want to fit myself into what someone else wants. I blog what I blog. If I gain an audience, great, if I never do, I'm happy with that too. I'm not out to be famous or a celebrity scrapper.

The rules I do follow for myself though include: consistency, being real, keeping the text minimal and easy to read (not huge blocks of text without hard returns), and not being pushy or self-centered. If my blog can't grow organically without me being in everyones face, it's not for me. I can't stand that approach, and I don't think other people like it either. Off my soapbox now..LOL...

But an interesting tidbit, the DT I'm on has been tracking all their socialmedia sources and have found that when people want just visual inspiration, they go to Pinterest. When they want a brief bit of everything, they go to Facebook. When they want Tutorials, they go to the blog. With that in mind, I've been trying to change the focus of my blog more from "look what I did" to the tutorial/teaching/information aspect. I'm interested to see if it has any affect on my audience, positive or negative.

I love what you did with the ribbon, super cute layout too. As for posting later in the day, I think you do get more people visiting the earlier you post. I kinda stressed over the stats at first but now that life has gotten so busy around here, I just go with the flow and post when I have the time. We all need to take a break and rest sometimes. Take care!!

Well, I TRY to get my blog posts up early, but if people don't see them, no biggie. I don't have an elaborate blog and have only recently started posting on the blog thread at 2Peas.

Anyway, LOVE how you used that ribbon. I had to look twice to see that it WAs ribbon! Cool page!

Cute layout! I love the ribbon tabs. As for blogging, I post when I have time, which is usually afternoons and evenings. That's what works for me.

Love the layout! wonderful use of ribbon! I usually schedule my posts for in the morning--- but its more so because I typically just scrap over the weekend and don't want 1 large post a week, so I schedule to break it down and AM is just a easy setting time. =)I think people will see it regardless

Love your layout and the ribbon! I don't think so much of when I post but how often. I like a post to marinate for a bit before I put up new content :)
