Holiday Hop!

I have a couple projects to share with you today. I'll start with these fantastic letters from Say It With Letters that I altered:

I used the Tradition line from Fancy Pants Designs. I made the flowers myself too, with their papers, ribbons, and buttons. Here are some close up's of the letters so you can see them a little bit better:

I used adhesive from Helmar to put everything together. I used the Premium Craft Glue and the Liquid Scrap Dots. I like using the Liquid Scrap Dots when making my flowers because it is heavier and works to keep it all together really well. And then I also wanted to share a layout with you. This layout was also made with the Tradition line from Fancy Pants:

Those ornaments were already on this particular piece of paper. I cut them out and then used them in the exact same spot. :) I just lifted them up a bit with the Liquid Scrap Dots from Helmar. I used Helmar's 450 Quick Dry Adhesive for the rest of the layout.

It's Crunch Time with Unity

**I don't think my sister ever stops by my blog, but just in case--KIM, if you are here TURN BACK NOW. This is a no-Kim zone...well if you are not my sister but named Kim I guess you can stop in. :)

This week for Hip Hop, we are sharing quick Christmas gifts. And we will be using some of the FABULOUS and AMAZING new stamp sets from Unity and IOD. Yep...you heard right...another fabulous partnership. You'll want to start the hop at the Unity Blog.

I got to play with the new Love Never Fails stamp set. I made a layout/project. You probably already guessed it...but it's a present for my sister. :) To prove to you how simple and quick it is...I am going to show you a bit of my process in creating this.

I started off my grabbing a bunch of photos from her facebook page. It didn't matter if they weren't the best quality because I made them all 2 x 2. I laid them out in a collage, but left some spots to add some paper and stamps. Here is what I printed and used as the base of my project:

Then, because I am me :), I wanted some layering to my project so I decide that on two of my spots I would add papers behind the photos and on one I would layer on top. So I cut out two spots:

Then I made a quick piece that included two patterned papers and one stamped image:

Another me thing...I just had to add a bit of quick stitching. Then I made another similar spot with a different stamp and different paper. I layered both of these behind my project like so:

Then another quick bit to add on top of my base of photos:

I did back the whole thing up with some more patterned paper. And it looks like this:

You could stop here and use it as a layout...even for a gift. But I did put it in a frame:

Hope she likes it. Also hope you like it! :) Perhaps you are feeling a bit more inspired to take a crack at making more of your gifts this year.

Traditions

We all have holiday traditions. They could even be really simple things that you wouldn't even think of scrapping because, well...you know it, it's second nature to you...you don't even think about it. Today on the My Little Shoebox blog, we are sharing layouts about traditions. When I first got this assignment, I thought of a bunch of traditions we had...but I scrapped about most of them already. But there was a simple thing that we do every year, that I am not sure I have ever documented. Every year, we spend Christmas Eve at my in-laws and Christmas morning at my parent's house. So that is what my layout is about today.

I used the Holly Jolly line from My Little Shoebox. And I used Helmar adhesives to put it all together. I used primarily the Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive. There were a few of the stickers that I popped up with Helmar Zapdots too.

How silly it is

I just prayed the most ridiculous prayer. But unfortunately we do it all the time.

I was praying asking for direction with some stuff in my life that just doesn't seem to be going my way...or progressing in any way. I found myself saying something like "Lord, if we could just do things my way this time..." And I caught myself. It was like I could hear God saying "We could do things your way this time child, but you will miss out on so much." Honestly, why would I want a human, flawed plan when I could have God's perfect plan for me. It may not be what I think I need. But He knows more then me!!! I know...shocking, right? No. We all know better. HE knows what I need. He knows what YOU need.

Use What You Got!

I am trim girl...I love lace, and nice fancy trims. I think they can add so much to a page. This week I tried something new. See, I had this half finished scarf laying around that I knew I would never ever finish. So I decided to use it on a page. :)

Here's my layout:

I used papers from Webster's Pages. That fabric circle with saying on top of the scarf is also from Webster's Pages. My chipboard is from Magistical Memories. I used the new "Budding Swirl" piece and then my frame is a piece from the "Fancy Book Plate Book". I just sprayed my chipboard with Glimmer Mist...it's just so easy to do. :)

I used Helmar adhesives to put my layout together. On the papers and chipboard I used Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive. The frame (cut from paper that reads "Matt and Tam's Wedding") and then the fabric circle are adhered with Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots...it kind of fills in the gaps underneath and securely adheres it, since they are layered on top of other things. And then I adhered my scarf to my layout with Helmar v2 Vellum Adhesive. Worked like a charm. :)

Here's some projects of mine that were posted to the blog today...

Those trees were cut with my Slice. Then I used my Helmar 450 Quick Dry adhesive and glued some pieces back to back, because I wanted my trees to have the same pattern throughout. Then I put then in a pile and sewed through them all with my sewing machine. Then I spread them apart for a fun little tree. These can be sporadically placed on your table amongst the food or used in/as a centerpiece. :)

And then on those place cards, I used scraps to make my background. Here's a close up of one of them:
